The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative’s (IAVI) mission is to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive AIDS vaccines for use throughout the world. “The revised figures of HIV prevalence do not alter the line of work in both prevention and care. I would say in this context, the search for a preventive AIDS vaccine assumes greater importance. There definitely should be an increase in the momentum for the search of this prevention vaccine because other than the condom, there is nothing else available.”
